Andrew Maxbauer is a composer whose music often exists in an unresolved space between sound and soundlessness; involving instruments, field recordings, and the acoustic presence of the listening space.
His compositions have been presented internationally at festivals and concert series, including June in Buffalo (US), Kalvfestivalen (SE), the Saint Petersburg International New Music Festival (RU), Frequency Series (US), and PRISM (AT). He has collaborated with ensembles and performers such as airborne extended, Ensemble Dal Niente, Longleash, mdi ensemble, Mimitabu, Mivos Quartet, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ensemble Multilatérale, and Talea Ensemble.
Andrew received his Ph.D. in Music Composition and Technology from Northwestern University. He currently resides in Chicago.
